My mailbox was leaning for 3 years before I noticed
I was backing out of my driveway last week and my neighbor pointed out my mailbox post was tilted at a 15 degree angle. Turns out the concrete base had cracked after the freeze last winter and I just never looked at it from the street side. Anyone else get blind to something in their own yard?

oh man, i've totally been there. a few years back i noticed my front step was cracked in a way that made it look like a little staircase for ants. i walked past that thing every single day for almost two years before a friend pointed it out. what worked for me was taking a picture from the street level once every couple months, just a quick snap on my phone. it really helps you see what your eyes glaze over. for the mailbox, you can probably just dig out the old concrete and reset it with a new bag of quickrete. just make sure to brace it with a 2x4 for a couple days so it cures straight. take it from someone who learned the hard way, a little routine check saves a whole lot of hassle.
