Hit 200 drywall patches in my own house before I finally learned the trick
I swear I've patched the same spot in my hallway about 12 times over the last 3 years... kept cracking because I was using the wrong mud consistency. Just hit patch number 200 across the whole house last weekend and finally figured out you gotta wet the edges of the old drywall paper before you apply the compound. Anyone else have a number like that for a simple repair they kept messing up?

Hold up. 200 patches? Man, I was frustrated after about 15 in my own living room. I can't even imagine hitting triple digits. I thought I was the only one with a cursed drywall spot that just wouldn't stay fixed. You've got a lot more patience than me because I would have just put a big painting over it by patch number 20. Good to know about wetting the edges though, I've definitely been guilty of just slapping compound on and hoping for the best.

lol I did the same thing with a painting, but the spot kept showing through anyway. The wetting thing is a game changer for sure, I was just slapping it on dry and wondering why it kept crumbing off.
