Almost ripped a pipe out of the wall using a cheap drain snake

Picked up a $12 auger from the hardware store to clear a slow kitchen sink and it got stuck, nearly yanked the whole trap off the wall before I stopped pulling. Has anyone else had a snake lock up on them and found a way to get it loose without tearing things apart?

Yeah that happened to me. Try turning the snake the other way while pulling slow.
