My neighbor laughed at me for trying to fix a toaster with a bent prong on the plug instead of buying a new one
He said just get a $15 toaster at Walmart, but I straightened the prong with pliers, plugged it in, and it's been working fine for 6 months now, so who's the fool?

Wait, you mean you actually straightened a bent prong and plugged it in without dying?

Gotta say @lucas_carr24, the real danger there isnt the bending itself its the internal wire. Those prongs have a tiny wire soldered inside and when you bend them back you can snap that wire. Now you got a plug that looks fine but doesnt actually make contact right. That causes arcing inside the outlet which is way more dangerous than a visibly bent prong. Seen it happen to a buddy's space heater and that thing almost caught his nightstand on fire. So yeah you lived this time but you mightve traded one problem for a sneaky one.
