My dryer stopped heating mid-cycle last night

I was trying to get a load of towels dry before bed and the dryer just went cold after 10 minutes. Checked the breaker and the lint trap, neither was the issue. I pulled the back panel off and saw the heating element looked a bit crispy on one end. Ordered a new one for 18 bucks off Amazon, hoping that's all it needs. Anyone else had a dryer element go out suddenly like that without warning?

Lol yeah man, the dryer gods just decided your towels didn't need to be dry tonight. 18 bucks for a heating element is basically a steal though, my last one cost me almost 40 and it was just as crispy as yours. Probably had some lint build up slowly cooking it for months before it finally gave up the ghost. Hopefully the new one slides in easy and you're back to warm laundry by bedtime.
