Broken zipper on my Jansport backpack from high school

I dug out my old Jansport from 1998 still had the lifetime warranty tag inside. They fixed the zipper for free just paid shipping. Has anyone else actually used those brand warranties for old gear?

3 different companies in a row tried to tack on "handling fees" for me last month. It's a racket @charliew99 - shipping is the new way they nickel and dime you.
