Went to the open house on Elm Street and noticed something about the kitchen layout

We checked out the place at 142 Elm Street yesterday, and the kitchen had this weird setup where the fridge was on the opposite wall from the stove and sink. It made me think about how I'd actually cook there. The realtor said it was a 'classic layout,' but it felt like a lot of extra steps. We're trying to keep our budget under $300k, so we see a lot of older homes with odd choices. Has anyone else bought a house with a kitchen layout they had to get used to, or was it a deal breaker for you?
