TIL you can actually negotiate the realtor commission, not just the house price

Was at an open house in Austin last weekend and the seller's agent casually mentioned they dropped their fee to 4% to make the deal work. Has anyone else tried asking about this upfront or is it just a Texas thing?

The trick is to ask before you even put in an offer. I straight up told my agent I wanted a reduced commission to free up some cash and she went for it. Just gotta make it clear you're ready to walk if they don't play ball.

Wow, it's wild how everything in life is negotiable if you just ask, isn't it? I swear with car repairs and even phone bills people just accept the first price all the time. It's like we're trained not to push back but then a realtor casually drops their fee and it makes you wonder what else you could haggle on.
