Our sewer line inspection turned into a two month nightmare

The home inspector said we needed a sewer scope, so we called a company. They found a belly in the line and said it needed to be fixed before closing. The seller agreed to pay, but finding a contractor who would even call back took three weeks. The actual repair, which they said would take a day, dragged on for over a week because they hit a gas line. We almost lost the house over it. Has anyone else had a simple inspection turn into a huge delay?

Man that sounds like a total horror story. It's crazy how one little inspection can snowball into almost losing the whole deal. The part about hitting the gas line is the kind of nightmare fuel that keeps buyers up at night. I feel for you, that kind of stress is unreal.

Is there some secret rule that sewer repairs have to hit a utility line? I mean, it's like they're contractually obligated to find a gas pipe or a fiber optic cable. Just adds that extra dash of panic to the whole home buying process.
