My inspector missed a cracked sewer line and it cost me $8k after closing

I skipped the extra sewer scope to save $150, which felt smart at the time. Anyone else have a 'cheap' pre-purchase skip that came back to bite them?

Oof, that's the kind of math that keeps you up at night. Saving a hundred and fifty bucks to end up spending eight grand is a special kind of life lesson. It's like skipping the five dollar insurance on the rental car and then immediately backing into a pole. We've all been there with some kind of shortcut, but that one really stings.

Holly's rental car comparison is perfect, that exact kind of short term win that blows up later. I skipped a pest inspection on my first place to close faster, told myself it was fine. Two months in, I found termite damage in a wall that was a total nightmare to fix. It makes that sewer scope fee look like nothing.
