My first house had a sump pump that was way too loud...
When I bought my first place in Cincinnati last fall, the sump pump in the basement sounded like a jet engine every time it rained. I finally swapped it out for a Wayne CDU980e model last month and the difference is night and day. The old one was a 15-year-old cast iron pump, the new one is much quieter and pushes water way faster. Has anyone else dealt with a noisy pump and found a fix that actually works?

Oh man, I feel your pain on that jet engine noise. I had an old Zoeller that would rattle the whole floor joists until I swapped it for a quieter model with a better check valve setup. The key for me was adding some rubber isolation mounts under the discharge pipe to stop the vibration from traveling through the house.

Yeah those old pumps can really scream, can't they? I had a similar issue with a basement sump that sounded like a freight train every time it kicked on. The rubber isolation mounts made a huge difference for me too, especially under the discharge pipe where all the force is. Idk why more people don't think about vibration dampening, it's way cheaper than replacing the whole pump if you're on a budget.
