Just picked the smaller house with the better location

I was torn between a 3 bedroom way out in the suburbs for $285k or a 2 bedroom closer to downtown for $310k. I went with the smaller one and my commute dropped from 45 minutes to 15. Anyone else make a similar trade off and regret it or love it?

Yeah but did you check how much noise you get being closer to downtown? Street noise or neighbors can be brutal.

I read this article once about soundproofing in apartments and it said even one street over can be a huge difference... Something about how noise bounces off buildings differently depending on the layout. My buddy lives five blocks from downtown and says his place sounds like a highway sometimes, but a friend two streets further in barely hears anything. It's wild how much a couple hundred feet can change everything with the noise.
