That blog post about "sterilizing everything" for kombucha made me crazy
I was reading some fermentation blog last night and they said you need to boil your kombucha jars for 20 minutes every time. I have been making kombucha for 2 years now and I just wash mine with hot soapy water and rinse real well. Has anyone else noticed that half the online advice is way over the top or did I just get lucky so far?

Come on, people have been making kombucha for centuries without boiling jars for 20 minutes. A good scrub with hot soapy water is totally fine. The whole sterilization thing is such overkill for a home brew. Your starter liquid is literally full of acid and good bacteria that kill off bad stuff anyway. I bet half these bloggers just want to sound extra scientific to seem legit. You're not lucky, you're just not falling for the fear mongering. Keep doing what works for you.
