Wasted $200 on cheap brackets that rusted in 2 months
I tried saving money on post brackets for a job in Seattle. Bought the cheap steel ones online. Looked fine at first but after that wet spring they were totally rusted out. Had to tear down 40 feet of fence and redo it. Don't cheap out on hardware in a damp climate. Anyone else learn this the hard way?

Bought some cheapo gate hinges off Amazon myself. Had them snap clean in half after one windy day here in Portland.

That "snap clean in half" part got me. It's wild how we'll pay premium prices for everything else but expect the cheapest hardware to hold up, like gravity and weather just take the day off or something.
