This old fence in my neighborhood looked brand new after just one season
I drive past this cedar fence on Maple Street every day. Last fall, the owner just gave it a quick power wash and a coat of clear sealant. I figured it would look okay for a bit. But when I saw it again this spring, the wood had this amazing, even silver-gray patina. No green mildew, no dark spots, just a clean, weathered look. It made me realize how much a simple, timely sealant job can control how wood ages. What's your go-to product for getting that consistent gray finish on cedar?

That's just the cedar showing off. My go-to is whatever clear sealant is on sale at the hardware store. It all does the same thing if you put it on clean wood.

Didn't some sealants let the wood gray out faster than others?
