That $40 auger bit I scoffed at actually paid for itself on one job
I was dead set on using a manual post hole digger for a 12-post fence line in rocky soil, figured the auger was overpriced and gimmicky. Three hours in with only two holes dug and my shoulders screaming, I rented a power auger with that same bit from the local yard and finished the rest in under 90 minutes. Has anyone else been burned by stubbornly sticking to old methods and then kicking yourself for not trying something sooner?

Yeah that's how it always goes. You fight with the old way for hours then finally try the new thing and wonder why you waited so long. Happens with everything, not just tools.

Stuck with a corded drill for years because I figured batteries would die halfway through any project. Finally grabbed a decent brushless Milwaukee set when my old one gave out. Now I don't know why I put up with dragging that cord around for so long. Makes you feel like a fool for not switching sooner.
