Switched from hand digging to a power auger and wish I'd done it years ago

Used to spend all day with a clamshell digger for post holes, especially on rocky ground out near Springfield. Last spring I rented a one-man auger from the local equipment place for $60 and got 8 holes done in under 2 hours. Has anyone else made the switch and found a specific brand that holds up better than others?

I rented one from a place in Ozark and my back thanked me after the first hole.

Feel you on that back thing. I spent three summers fighting rocky clay soil with a manual digger and my shoulders still ache just thinking about it. Rented a Ryobi one from the local hardware store and did ten fence posts in a Saturday morning. The next day I could actually stand up straight which was a first in years. Wish I could tell you about a brand that lasts but I just rent every time now and let someone else deal with the maintenance.
