Serious question, does anyone actually trust those laser alignment tools for post spacing?
I was dead set against laser levels for fence work after my first cheap one gave me false readings. Then last month a buddy let me borrow his Bosch GLL 3-80 during a 200-foot run of privacy fence in Austin. I checked every 10th post with a tape measure and the laser was dead on within a quarter inch the whole way. It saved me about 45 minutes of running string lines and rechecking. Has anyone else switched over to lasers and regretted it or am I just late to the party?

Same thing happened with me and levels. It's like how people swear by manual transmissions until they actually drive a good automatic. Once you see the pattern that new tools can actually be more accurate if you do your homework, it's hard to go back. Did you have a specific setup for keeping it level on uneven ground?

String lines have never failed me in 30 years of fencing. Lasers are just another battery powered thing that can die at the worst time or get knocked out of calibration if you drop it once.
