Rant: I thought those fancy post hole diggers were a waste of money until a job in Boulder
For years I stuck with my manual clamshell digger, thinking the powered auger attachments were just for show. Then I took a job on a rocky hillside in Boulder, Colorado, and after breaking a sweat on just two holes, I rented a one-man gas auger. It chewed through the hardpack and small rocks like nothing, saving me a full day's labor. Has anyone else had a tool they swore was a gimmick completely change their mind on a tough site?

I was the same way with laser levels, thought they were just for people who couldn't use a string line. Then I tried to hang cabinets in a room that was wildly out of square and finally caved. My old methods would have left me with so many shims and regrets.

Felt the exact same way about my old chalk line. Thought lasers were just expensive toys until I had to tile a bathroom floor with a serious slope. Watching that red line stay perfectly level across the whole mess was a game changer. Suddenly all my cuts made sense and nothing looked off. I still have the chalk box, but it mostly collects dust now.
