Just realized post setting is way more important than I thought
I used to think it was all about getting the holes dug straight and the panels level. Then I did a job last month in Austin where the ground was nothing but clay and rocks, and I skipped the backfill tamping every 6 inches like my uncle told me. That section of fence has already started leaning after one good rain storm. Has anyone else had post setting fail on them with heavy clay soil?

That bit about skipping the tamping every 6 inches really hit home. It's just like how people rush through the small steps in anything, whether it's cooking or budgeting, then wonder why the whole thing falls apart later.

Yeah exactly. I've seen people skip the prep work on a concrete job just to save 20 minutes, then the whole slab cracks six months later. It's the same with marinating meat. You can't just pour sauce on it and call it done, you gotta let it sit. People get impatient and then blame the recipe or the tools.
