Just learned a cedar fence post can last 30 years if you treat the part underground

I was looking at a building code guide from the county and it said the below-ground section needs a special coat. Anyone know a good brand for that treatment?

Oh man, my neighbor skipped that step on his fence. Half the posts rotted out in like ten years and he had to redo the whole line. Definitely worth using the right stuff.

Yeah it's like that EVERYWHERE now, @the_vera. People just skip the basic prep work to save a day or a few bucks. It's not just fences, it's everything. You see it with paint peeling off walls that weren't cleaned first, or new phones breaking fast because they used cheap glass. That extra step at the start is what makes things LAST. Cutting it out always costs more later.
