Stitched a denim jacket using only thrifted patches and actually got compliments on it

I pieced together about 15 patches from old goodwill shirts onto a $8 jacket from the same store, and three strangers stopped me on the bus last week to ask where I bought it. Anyone else find that mixing totally unrelated fabrics somehow works better than matching them?

Woof. Gotta disagree hard here. Mixing random thrift patches is just gonna give you a jacket that looks like a hobo's picnic blanket. I've seen people try this and it ends up looking like a mess of clashing colors and random logos that don't mean anything. The real trick is picking a theme - like all band patches or all motorcycle club style stuff - and sticking to it. Otherwise you just look like you got tackled in a Goodwill donation bin. Those bus strangers were probably just being nice.
