PSA: That local fabric shop on 14th Street swapped their thread supplier last month and the new stuff snapped on 3 of my test seams before I caught it.

I went in last week for a big order of black thread, stitched up a whole mockup for a client, and when I pulled the seam to check tension the thread just broke like cheap string, so has anyone else noticed this or am I just unlucky?

I bought 8 spools of that new black thread two weeks ago and had the same problem. It broke on the 3rd seam of a heavy cotton mockup I was making for a bridal fitting. I found that switching back to the old Gutermann they used to carry fixed it, but the shop said theyre not bringing it back. If you still have the receipt they might swap it for the old stock they have left in the back.
