My grandma's scarf trick finally clicked after 7 years of ignoring it

My grandma always told me to steam wool scarves before folding them for storage. I thought it was just old lady nonsense and kept tossing mine in a drawer wrinkled. Last month I pulled out a cashmere scarf I actually steamed per her instructions and it looked brand new after 6 months. The ones I just folded were all creased and had weird shapes that wouldn't hang right. Has anyone else tried this or got other storage tricks from older relatives?

Haha yeah @oscarmurray you're not wrong, 7 years is basically a degree in stubbornness. My aunt had this trick with cedar blocks for wool sweaters - she'd wrap them in old pantyhose and tuck them in the sleeves. Keeps moths away and the fabric breathes way better than a ziplock bag. I finally tried it after my favorite sweater got holes and yeah, it actually works. Steam is definitely the move for scarves though, that's a good one I'm stealing.
