I just hit 100 sketches for my 'urban utility' collection and it's a mess

Started this project six months ago, just drawing pockets and straps on jackets. Opened the folder today and realized I have over a hundred pages of ideas, but they're all over the place, from a raincoat with a built-in bike lock holster to a vest with removable fleece panels. It feels like I have too many directions and no focus. How do you guys narrow down a huge pile of concepts into one coherent line?

That "built-in bike lock holster" idea is great. I read somewhere you should group sketches by the problem they solve, like "keeping stuff safe while moving" versus "staying warm in changeable weather.

Grouping sketches by the actual problem they fix makes so much sense. It cuts through the noise of just listing features. That bike lock holster is a perfect example of solving the "stuff getting stolen" worry, not just adding a pocket.
