I finally ditched synthetic fabrics for my summer collection and went all linen
I had to pick between polyester blends and 100% linen for a new line of sundresses, and after testing both on a humid July afternoon in Austin, the linen won because it actually breathes instead of sticking to you like plastic wrap. Has anyone else had the struggle of choosing between cost and comfort for a specific garment type?

and that's exactly what I've been noticing @charliew99, it's like people treat linen as this miracle fabric but it really only works when you aren't moving much. I sat at an outdoor brunch in a linen shirt last weekend and it was perfect for two hours until I had to walk to my car and suddenly I was wearing a wet towel. It seems like every fabric has this sweet spot where it's great but falls apart the second you push it. The same thing happens with cotton denim where everyone swears it's the best for summer but if you actually get warm and start sweating it just clings and feels heavy. I've started splitting my summer stuff between lightweight cotton for active days and saving the linen for sitting still at a patio or something.

I mean, linen is great for hot weather but it's not really as breathable as people think once it gets soaked through with sweat. A good cotton voile or even a rayon jersey can actually move air better when you're really active in the heat. Maybe it's just me but I've found linen gets heavy and clammy after a few hours of walking around outside.
