Heard a pattern maker say "cheap fabric is the devil" and it hit me different

I was helping a friend in his shop last Saturday and he said that while cutting some $3 a yard poly blend that kept shifting on him. Took me going through 4 yards of bargain bin linen myself to realize he was right about the headache it causes.

Man oh man, I've been there with cheap fabric. That poly blend that's all slippery and refuses to stay put? Makes you want to toss the whole thing out the window. I'd say save yourself the frustration and spend a couple extra bucks on something with a bit more weight or a tighter weave, it'll cut way cleaner and you won't be fighting it the whole time.

Wait, did your friend ever try to use pattern weights instead of pins with that slippery stuff? My buddy Jenna had the exact same problem with some cheapo satin, and she said switching to those fabric clips saved her sanity because nothing was slipping around anymore. She ended up finishing the dress but swore never to touch that fabric again lol.
