Debate: Was my old instructor right about avoiding polyester blends?
My fashion design teacher back at FIT swore I should never use polyester blends for structured garments, but I used a 60/40 cotton-poly blend for a jacket last semester and it held up great after 12 wears. Now I'm wondering if she was just being a purist or if I got lucky. Anyone else had this debate with a pro who gave advice that felt outdated?

Oh man, I feel your pain. Teachers can get real stuck in their ways about fabric. My home ec teacher back in the day told me the same thing about cheap blends for anything with structure. She'd say they "breathe wrong" and pucker at the seams.
Your 60/40 mix holding up after 12 wears is solid proof she might've been a little too rigid. Cotton-poly blends are way better now than they used to be. Sometimes old advice just doesn't fit newer materials. You got the real-world test, I'd trust that more than a blanket rule.

Real-world test" beats old advice every time. Your 12 wears prove that.
