Vent: The hoof knife I've been using for a decade is technically a 'left-handed' pattern
Found this out yesterday when I was helping a new apprentice pick out his first set. The guy at the supply shop in Lexington pointed it out, said it's why my bevel always looks a bit off to other people. Anyone else realize they've been using a tool wrong for way longer than they'd care to admit?

Ever grab a tool from a shared shop box and just never question it? I did that with a rasp for years, turns out it was for the opposite hand. Felt like a real goof, but honestly, it just forced me to adapt my grip and pressure.

Check the bevel direction on any new knife before you buy it. That little detail makes a huge difference in how it cuts and feels in your hand. Honestly, using the wrong one for so long probably just made you a more careful worker.
