That time a draft horse in Boise taught me to always check my apron pockets
I was trimming a big Percheron gelding at a farm outside Boise about three months ago. I bent over to pick up a rasp, and my phone slid out of my front apron pocket right into the fresh pile he'd just made. The owner just looked at me and said, 'Well, that's a new kind of hot spot.' I had to fish it out with a hoof pick, and the screen never really recovered. Now I either leave my phone in the truck or use a pocket with a button flap. Anyone else have a tool or item they've lost in a, uh, creative way on the job?

Honestly that's just life finding new ways to remind us we're not as organized as we think.

Oh man. I left my phone on the roof of my car once and drove off. Heard it slide off somewhere around the corner and watched it bounce three times in the rearview mirror. Screen looked like a spiderweb. That was a rough week.

Three years ago I wouldve laughed at someone for having that problem. But then I dropped a pair of my good nippers into a water trough while I was reaching for a hoof pick. The handles were wrapped in that grippy tape and they sank like a rock. I had to drain the whole trough and fish them out with a magnet on a stick. Now I keep all my tools in a magnetic tray on the fence post. That phone story though is a whole new level of bad luck.
