Rant: That 'magnetize your rasp' trick I laughed at actually works

My buddy Dave kept telling me to rub a magnet on my rasp to keep hoof filings from sticking. I thought he was messing with me. Finally tried it out of desperation after a muddy Thursday where everything was clumping up. Used a cheap old speaker magnet I had lying around. I mean it's not a miracle but it definitely cuts down on the gunk. Has anyone else had luck with specific types of magnets or is Dave just lucky?

That fifty year old speaker magnet from my dad's garage workshop has become my go-to for way more than just rasps, it's weird how the simplest junk around the house solves the most random problems.
