Watched my dad repair a lawnmower carburetor with a zip tie and it actually held for 3 months

I was at his garage in Phoenix last August when he snapped a broken plastic bracket back together with a zip tie instead of buying a $12 part, has anyone else used zip ties for temporary fixes that just ended up being permanent?

Honestly, that zip tie is probably stronger than the original part was.
