Shoutout to the old clothes hanger trick for unclogging my vacuum tube

I spent $12 on a new attachment kit before realizing a bent wire hanger could fish out that sock blocking the hose in under 2 minutes, anyone else have a hack that saved them money without buying anything?

For real, that hanger trick is a classic. Used a wire hanger last week to save a pair of tweezers that fell into the car vent, felt like a genius for about five seconds. Always nice when the simplest fix works better than the new gadget.

I mean, I'm going to play full devil's advocate here @the_drew, because I've tried that hanger trick twice and both times it ended with me scratching the inside of my car door panel and bending the tweezers worse than they were before. Those simple fixes sound great in theory but they always fail when you need them most, especially with newer cars where the vents are shaped weird. I'd rather just buy a proper retrieval tool from the auto parts store for six bucks and know it's gonna work without a fight. The whole "classic hack" thing feels like a trap to me most of the time, honestly. That five seconds of genius feeling usually just means I'm about to spend twenty minutes fixing my own mistake.
