Sharpening lawn mower blades by hand vs using a bench grinder which one actually lasts longer?

I sharpened my mower blade by hand with a file for 20 minutes last week but my buddy swears his bench grinder does it faster even though he has to sharpen twice as often so which method holds up better for you guys?

Filed mine down by hand and it held the edge all season long... buddy's grinder blade was dull again in a month.

Yep, heat from grinding kills the temper on blades every time.
