Old roofer showed me a trick for getting shingles off without tearing them

Heat gun on low is a game changer for old brittle shingles. Loosens them up just enough to pull them without snapping. Just don't hold it too long on one spot or you'll melt the underlayment.

I saw a pro on YouTube use an infrared thermometer to keep the heat gun in the safe zone.
