My grandpa swore by WD-40 on drill bits. I thought he was nuts.

He told me to spray a rusty bit before drilling into old hardwood. Called it a cheap trick that actually works. Bit cut through like butter. Anyone else get handed weird old-timer advice that somehow held up?

Your grandpa knew what he was talking about. I had an old timer tell me to use a bar of soap on stubborn screws once, said it works better than any lube. Hard to believe until you try it and the screw just slides right in.

No joke, the soap trick actually works crazy well.
