I wasted 3 hours last Sunday on a stripped screw in my deck

I had to remove a board on my back porch in Overland Park and one screw just would not come out. After trying every trick I knew for 3 hours, I finally used a stripped screw extractor bit from Home Depot for $8 and it came out in 30 seconds. Anyone else have a go-to method for those stuck stripped screws?
