Dropped $80 on a supposedly 'lifetime' garden hose that split at the fitting after 4 months.
Has anyone actually found a hose that doesn't fail at the brass connection or am I just destined to keep buying new ones every season?

Man, I feel your pain. That exact thing happened to me with a "lifetime" hose from a big box store. What finally worked was swapping out the brass fittings myself. I bought a brass repair coupling and a cheap crimping tool from the hardware store for like $15 total. After I reconnected it, I put a little plumber's tape on the threads and it's held up for two years now. Have you tried just replacing the fitting instead of the whole hose?

Oh man, I did the EXACT same thing with a "lifetime" hose from the same kind of store. The fitting cracked after one season and they basically told me to go fly a kite. I grabbed a brass replacement coupling and one of those cheap squeeze clamp tools from the local hardware store for under 20 bucks total. Cut the old fitting off, slipped the new one on with a hose clamp, wrapped the threads with plenty of tape and it's been solid for three years now. Way better than buying a whole new hose every year.
