Bought a cheap laser level last fall and it's been a game changer for hanging shelves

I picked up a basic cross-line laser level at the hardware store in October for around 30 dollars. Before that I was using a spirit level and a pencil to mark spots, and I'd always mess up the spacing on bookshelves. Last weekend I hung six shelves in my living room in about an hour, and every single one lined up perfect. The battery life on this little unit is surprising too, I've used it maybe ten times and it's still going strong. Only downside is the mounting bracket feels flimsy, has anyone found a good way to stabilize these budget models without spending a fortune?

Tried sticking the bracket to the wall with double-sided tape one time, regrettable decision.

Bought a 25 dollar laser level from the bargain bin at Menards and it changed my whole shelving game too. I taped mine to a stack of old textbooks once because the bracket kept slipping, looked ridiculous but the shelves came out straight. The bracket issue is real though, I ended up wrapping a couple rubber bands around mine to get it to grip tighter.
