My table setup felt too sterile and a client called it out
Last Thursday, a regular client of mine, she's been coming for facials for about 2 years, said my room felt like a doctor's office before she got on the table. I laughed it off at first, but then she talked about how my esthetician friend down in Austin plays soft music and uses a warm neck pillow during every service. She said it wasn't about the products or the extractions, it was the whole vibe that made her nervous. That conversation hit different because I've been so focused on sanitation and technique that I forgot the emotional side of the treatment. I spent 12 years perfecting my extractions, but nobody leaves a review praising how sterile the cotton swabs were. I rearranged my lamp angle and added a little weighted eye mask last weekend, and two clients mentioned how much more relaxed they felt. Has anyone else had a client basically tell you to soften up your whole routine?

Sterile is kind of a feature in my book... clients trust that stuff more than they realize, even if they don't say it out loud. Soft music won't fix a bad extraction, but I get that comfort matters too. Maybe don't throw out the swabs just yet, just add a blanket and call it a day.
