I was steaming faces for 5 years before a client's comment made me stop

Heard a similar story from a buddy who does facials. His regular client finally asked him, super nicely, if the steam was really necessary because it made her skin feel tight and weird afterwards. He said it was like a lightbulb went off, and he just stopped offering it that day.

Yeah, it's one of those things you just do because it's always been done. I switched to using a warm, damp towel instead. You get the same pore opening effect without the harsh heat. Some clients with rosacea or really dry skin thanked me for it. It made me realize a lot of old school steps are more about ritual than results.
