Had a client break out hard from a vitamin C serum I recommended at my Portland studio

What happened at the appointment last Friday made me realize I need to patch test every new product on a small spot first, so how do you all handle serum reactions without losing the client?

Wait, is this really that big of a deal? Like, I get being upset that a product caused a reaction, but clients break out from stuff all the time. I've tried serums that made me look like a pizza for a week and it was annoying but not the end of the world. @sarah_nelson knows what I mean - her tomato face story is funny but it's not like she lost her skin forever. Maybe just tell the client "hey, sorry this happened, here's a calming routine until it clears up" and move on. Most people get that skincare isn't one size fits all, especially if you offer to help them find something gentler next time. If they're really that upset, they probably weren't going to be your client long term anyway.
