Client cried during her facial and I almost panicked
Happened last Thursday in my treatment room in Portland. She was getting a standard 60 minute facial, nothing out of the ordinary. Midway through the extractions she just started crying quietly. I froze for a second, then just stopped working and gave her space. Turns out she lost her mom last month and the relaxation made her finally let it out. I asked if she wanted to stop or take a break, she said keep going. Afterward she booked another session and tipped $50. Has anyone else had a client get emotional on the table? How do you handle it without making it weird?
People cry on the table more than you'd think. The quiet ones always get me, though. You did the right thing by pausing and letting her lead. If someone's mid-sob, the worst move is to chat them out of it or act like it's a problem. Just keep your hands steady and let them feel their feelings. The fact she rebooked says everything. That tip was her way of saying thanks for not making it weird.
