That damn door lock took me 3 hours on a simple repair
I got a call for a stuck elevator door on the third floor of a six story building downtown. Turned out the lock contact was just a hair out of alignment from a worn roller, but I spent two hours chasing wiring before I figured it out. Has anyone else had a simple fix turn into a half day? I'm wondering if I need to change my diagnostic approach.

Used to think I was pretty good at diagnostics too, but this kind of thing humbles you real fast lol. That worn roller tricked me on a sliding gate once and I wasted a whole afternoon checking sensors. Now I always start with the easiest mechanical stuff first, just to rule it out.

Three hours on a simple door lock, man that is wild. I had a similar thing happen last year with a sliding gate where the worn roller was the culprit. @drew805 I feel your pain on checking sensors first, that's exactly what I did too. It's crazy how a tiny piece of plastic can make you look like you don't know what you're doing.
