Shoutout to the building super who showed me my level was junk
Been riding elevators in Chicago for about 5 years now. I always adjusted the door rollers by eye and feel, figured close enough was good enough. Last month this old super grabs my level off the cart and goes 'you using this thing?' Turns out the bubble was off by almost a quarter inch. Spent 10 bucks on a new one at Home Depot and my door close times are perfect now. Any of you guys check your levels with a straight edge or just trust the bubble?

Eh, seems like a lot of fuss over a cheap tool.

Settle a debate for me: do you check your level against a known straight edge or just trust it once the bubble looks good? I'm with the old super on this but I keep second-guessing myself.
