Never used shielded stranded wire for elevator call stations until a retrofit in Chicago last month
Spent 10 years running solid core because it was cheaper and easier to pull, but after swapping to shielded stranded on that job the signal noise issues I'd been fighting for years on long runs just vanished, has anyone else had that experience?

Wait, did you have to change the tooling too? I was on a job in Denver where we tried switching to shielded stranded for a few runs and the wire strippers we had kept slicing through the insulation on the first try. We ended up using a different brand of terminals too because the old ones wouldn't crimp right. The noise drop was real though, I remember one old install where every time the elevator started up you'd get a hum on the call stations, drove me nuts for three months before we pulled new wire.
