Hot take: Should we still be greaging guide rails by hand or are the automatic oilers the way to go?
I got into it with a guy from Otis last month at a job in downtown Chicago. He swore the old hand method gives you better control, but I've been using a Pulse automated oiler for 3 years now and haven't had a callback for dry guides since. My argument is the machine doesn't miss a spot, but he claims it wastes oil and can't adjust for wear. What's your shop's take on this debate?

That Otis guy might have a point about older systems with uneven wear, but honestly, I switched to automatic oilers two years ago and my callbacks dropped to almost nothing too. It's just way more consistent, you know? Your machine vs his hands, I'd take the machine every time.

lol is it really that deep though? I mean yeah auto oilers are cool but my guy's been doing it by hand for like 20 years and I can't remember the last callback I had. maybe it's just about who you know.
