Had to pick between a Kone or an Otis controller for that old 1960s freight car

Went with the Otis because the Kone was gonna need a whole new wiring harness and I only had 3 days. Shaft is running smooth now but I'm still chasing a ghost door lock fault - anyone else run into that on these retrofits?

Man, I gotta push back on that one, @john_sullivan2. I've had the opposite luck - those door lock faults are almost always a bad controller board, not the switch wiring. The old Otis boards get hairline cracks from the heat cycling in those machine rooms and they'll throw a phantom lock fault when the temp drops at night. I had one that only failed when the janitor ran the floor buffer near the controller. Swapped the board, never saw it again. You sure you're not chasing a red herring with the physical wiring? Did you log the fault timestamps to see if there's a pattern?

Honestly those ghost faults are a nightmare. Did you check if the door lock switch itself is getting wet or if the wiring's rubbing against the door track? I've seen that cause intermittent issues on old gear where the insulation gets brittle.
