Had a tech argue with me for 10 minutes that the door lock contacts don't need cleaning
We were in a 30 year old Otis in downtown Austin and he insisted the intermittent door lock light was a board issue. Finally pulled out my pocket knife and scraped a layer of corrosion off the contacts, and it worked perfectly after that. Any of you guys keep a contact cleaning routine, or just swap parts until it behaves?

82 year old gearless in San Antonio, clean contacts every 6 months religiously.

Does anyone else wonder if cleaning contacts that often actually makes them last longer or if it's more about keeping them comfortable? I've heard some people go way longer between cleanings and their sets still hum along fine, but at 82 you're probably just being smart about it. Either way, religious maintenance like that can't hurt when you want steady power without any nasty surprises.
