Controller board failure took out a whole building yesterday
Had an Otis controller board just die on me mid-cycle yesterday at a 12-story office tower downtown. No warning, no error codes, nothing. The car stopped between floors with a guy from accounting stuck for 45 minutes before I could get it on manual. Turned out to be a capacitor that looked fine but was totally fried on the inside. Anyone else seeing more of these sudden board failures on older units?

Didn't I read somewhere that some of those older Otis boards had bad solder joints from the factory?
